What counts as a request?
One message to Assistant, plus all the work until its answer, including checks and test builds. A request the service interrupts before an answer is not counted. A request you stop yourself is counted.
What happens when requests run out?
Assistant pauses until renewal; Nixorium keeps working. Need more? Write to hello@nixorium.org.
Does the price depend on the number of PCs?
No. One subscription per laboratory (one controller), whatever the number of PCs.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time before renewal, from the billing portal (/billing in Assistant). The subscription stays active until the end of the paid year.
What does Assistant send outside the school?
Only what it needs: your messages and the configuration files it reads. Recognized passwords, keys and Wi-Fi credentials are removed before anything is sent; recognition is pattern-based, so do not keep secrets in the lab’s configuration files. By default the conversation is saved on the Assistant service for 90 days to find and fix mistakes in Assistant; the administrator can switch this off in the Assistant settings. A separate abuse log keeps the latest message and the final answer for 30 days. Privacy →
Can Assistant break my lab?
You review the proposed files and checks before saving. Applying to the controller and updating clients each need a separate review, and you can roll back.
Invoices for public administrations?
Yes: Italian electronic invoice (SDI). Schools that cannot pay by card can order and pay by bank transfer: write to hello@nixorium.org.
Do I need Assistant to use Nixorium?
No. Community Edition is the complete system, free and open source: its guided menu covers everything a lab needs, from installation to software, updates and backups. Assistant adds the custom changes the menu does not offer, whenever you want them.
Why is Assistant paid when Nixorium is free?
Every Assistant request runs on a commercial AI model that is paid for each use, so it cannot be offered free to every school. The subscription pays for those requests and supports the development of Nixorium. Nixorium itself, with its guided menu, stays free and open source and works fully without Assistant.
In which languages does it answer?
In the language you write in. The interface is in English; answers and proposals follow your language.
I already use my own coding agent. Do I need Assistant?
Not necessarily. The free Agent Skill guides your own agent to inspect the lab and prepare proposals for programs and the students’ workspace; it never writes modules or saves anything, and you install and pay for the agent and its keys. Assistant lives in the Nixorium menu, nothing to install and no key: it writes the whole change (modules, programs, students’ initial files, common settings), builds it on your controller and fixes its own errors before answering, and reads each PC’s diagnostics to explain problems. You review the files and the affected PCs, save with a backup and apply as usual, at a fixed yearly price per lab with electronic invoice. Read the Agent Skill ↗
I manage several laboratories. Can I try Assistant in each?
Yes. Register each laboratory under its own name: one free trial per laboratory, even with the same email address.
What stays in the menu?
The network and its addresses, the controller number and the passwords: Assistant does not change them. It can propose the number of computers, the account names and the classroom view switch, with the same warnings and review as the menu. It never patches Nixorium itself and installs nothing: saving records a commit and a backup, then applying and updating are the usual reviews.
Do the student PCs need Internet for this?
No. Only the controller talks to the Assistant service and, for a program from a download, fetches the file once. The PCs receive the built program from the controller at the next update, as with any other change.
